Black Witch Magic by Mila Nicks Cover Reveal

Black Witch Magic
Mila Nicks
Publication date: October 30th 2020
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance

Selene Blackstone spends her days camped out in library corners with her nose glued to books. In a town like Brimrock, where she’s an outcast, she prefers her book friends to her real-life enemies. They’re a lot less judgmental. The rest of town believes she descends from a family of witches—including her evil witch grandma, Luna. In this case, the truth is stranger than fiction. She is a witch, and she’s cursed for all of eternity. Good thing her to-be-read list is pretty long…

Prickly Paranormal Investigator Aiden O’Hare speaks two languages: sarcasm and more sarcasm. He travels the country—and sometimes even the world—investigating strange phenomena with his best friend, Cory. Their investigations bring them to a cozy New England town called Brimrock, home to fabled evil witch Luna Blackstone. Armed with his dry wit, his bibliophilic love for books, and far too much free time, he’s determined to find out just what happened to Luna…

When Aiden meets Selene, he decides he must get to know her. When Selene learns Aiden is in town investigating her grandma, she knows she must stop him. He’s out to expose the truth. She’s out to keep it a secret. Neither expects to fall under each other’s spell, but sometimes love is supernatural.

Angels of Moirai (Angels of Moirai #1) by Nicole Salmond Review

4/5 Stars 370 Pages Published May 3rd 2015

Are you like me and really just craving a book about angels and demons? I don’t know why, but lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about books like Hush, Hush. I just really wanted to read a young adult book about angels, and that’s exactly what this is. However, this is a lot more romance centered than what I expected.

Lila is a senior in high school. Though she’s from a fabulously wealthy self started family, her and her sister are horribly lonely without their parents around, and that’s how their life has been for most of it. She feels like she’ll never be who her parents want her to be, and that they’ll never fully love her because of it. And this is why we find her at the bottom of the pool holding onto a rock at the beginning of the book.

Though her parents always let her and her sister Hayley down, she’s never going to be like that. She focuses on her school and taking care of the house, that is until she starts having these strange waking dreams about an angel. Little does she know that her life is about to change in an insane way. Especially at the end of the book. The angel from her waking dreams is in fact a real person, and he’s transferred to her school for the remainder of the year.

Honestly, I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I picked this book out for my next read. Full of romance and kind of lacking in any excitement until the last ten percent of the book, I did really enjoy this book because it was something different than what I’ve been reading lately. I wanted a book about angels, and I got one. I’m not usually into slow books like this, but it was a nice relaxing break that I could pick up and put back down, and then pick right back up again. I also enjoyed reading it before bed because of how chill it was.

Again, however, this is another one of those books where the boy is really, really, old and immortal, and the girl is barely eighteen. I can put that aside though, because I can’t believe the insane turn that the end of the book took. I didn’t expect it at all, and if it didn’t happen, I’m not sure I would think about reading the second book in the series. But now? I have to! There’s no discussion about it. I need it in my life.

Overall, if you’re looking for a teen romance book about angels and demons, the angel is named after american singer, song-writer and guitarist James Taylor, and a teenage girl just fighting her way through her classes and contemplating what university to go to, then this is the book for you. I really liked it, and I’m glad I got the chance to check it out.

If you’d like a copy, you can grab one here!

Thanks for reading! How do you feel about books about angels? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to chat. Hope you’re doing great and staying safe.

Portal 24 by Meredith Stroud Review

3/5 Stars 240 pages
Published September 5th 2013 by Hot Key Books

With a beautiful and very mysterious cover, Portal 24 is the first book I’ve read by author Meredith Stroud. Though it wasn’t my absolute favourite book, it also wasn’t something I completely disliked. I would love to check out some of her other stories in the future to see if there’s something that would be more fitting for me personally.

Following a team of young people, though I’m not exactly sure of their ages, they live life as time travelers trying to save the world. I picked this book because I love science fiction like that, and i thought it would be nice to read a new time travel book, since I haven’t in a while. The story begins with Darius, a young man who has to hustle to survive in his life. With no parents, he relies on friends to have his back and help him trick money from people he deems bad, so it doesn’t seem like the crime it is. He has a girlfriend, and is mostly content with his life. That is, until a stranger shows up.

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

She tells him she needs his help, and if he doesn’t come with her, his girlfriend and everyone he knows won’t exist anymore. She talks about this wild topic of time travel, which he’s reluctant to believe, like anyone would be. But he’s not willing to risk anyone’s lives. He goes with her, and is introduced to his new life and his new family.

Though this was an exciting and action packed book,  it just wasn’t what I had hoped for. I was thinking there would be many adventures, and even though I’m not disappointed by that, I was really hoping for a little more insight into their world and how everything works. I don’t really feel like I know any of the characters very well, or the world that they’ve been adopted into through the corporation that employs and takes care of them, even though I feel like I spent a good amount of time with them throughout this book.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad read, but it wasn’t my new favourite thing in the world. I don’t feel like I wasted any time reading this book, and I’m looking forward to checking out more from the author in the future to see what they’re all about. I would recommend this book to people who like young adult books about time travel, that are more action packed and gory than anything else.

If you’d like to get a copy for yourself, you can grab one here.

Thanks for reading! I’d love to hear what your thoughts about this book are if you’ve checked it out, or if you’re just wondering about it. Stay safe, and have a great day!

Plagued by visions of our world being overtaken by the Stygian, what terrifies me to my core is that every one of the nightmarish scenes ends with Calan’s death.

We thought we had escaped the prophecy, but maybe we’d never diverted from the plan destiny had for us.

Drive-in Movies?

Snapchat-1353064134_2

Hey everyone! Hope you have a great week.

Yesterday I went to a drive-in movie! Who would have thought that would be a thing again? It was honestly a great time, they had an entire field for drive up food trucks, and then a ton of people turned up for it!

It would have been nicer on a cooler day, plus thirty was a little too hot for me to sit outside and watch a movie, but thankfully we could turn around and stay in the vehicle with the air conditioner.

They played the movie Step Brothers! If you haven’t seen it before, it’s one of my favourites. A comedy about grown men who act like teenagers. What could be better? Plus, I got a huge container of fries to go with it!

I hope they do more of this kind of stuff in the future, because I would totally be down for it! Have you gone to anything like this lately? Tell me all about it!

Thanks for reading, and stay safe!
