Breath of Flowers, Volume 1 by Caly Review

Looking for something cute and quick to read? Maybe you’re a manga pro, or someone who’s new to it like me. Either way, this might be what you want to pick up next. An adorable story about two teenage girls in high school, one who is mistaken for a boy, and the other, who is confused by the things that she feels for the other. Though their lives aren’t perfect, it’s a really sweet story and I’m glad I got the chance to check it out.

Other high school girls are obsessed with cute manga boys, but not Azami. She’s in love with a boy named Gwyn. Cute, blonde, and seemingly always cheerful, she shoots her shot, but is very shocked to find out that Gwyn is just pretending to be a boy so that she could get into the great sports program that their school has.

At first, Azami wants Gwyn to just forget about everything she told her, but finds herself compelled to get to know her better. After all, Gwyn feels the same way about her. They begin dating, and everything seems perfect, until problems start to arise. Drama starts to happen around the two, but they come out on the other side stronger than ever. That is, until Azami finds out that Gwyn has been starving herself and binding too tightly, hurting herself for something she shouldn’t have to be hurting over.

This book wasn’t anything like I expected, and although I read it very quickly, I think it took less than an hour to read the entire thing, I was really happy with the result. Azami is a fiery character, cute but quick to jump to conclusions and let her anger take over. Gwyn, on the other hand, is soft and sweet in the role of Azami’s prince charming. What will the future hold for the two? Only they know, but I’ll think about this story for a long time because of how innocent and sweet it was.

Falling for the Movie Star (The Summer Sisters #1) by Jean Oram is Free

Started a new job yesterday finally, but when I tried to leave I realized all the bus stops were closed and ended up having to walk half an hour on a really hot day in a hoodie and long pants, I’m so dumb sometimes. It happens. Probably should start carrying some cooler clothes in my bag if I’m going to be doing that kind of stuff.

Anyways, I found another free book for you all to check out! Though I don’t usually read books like these, I thought this might be a good change of pace from my usual apocalyptic, scifi and fantasy obsession.

Falling for the Movie Star

Published in 2014, and the republished this year in 2019, this book holds a rating of 3.7 stars across 93 reviews on Goodreads.

It’s description claims that: “Finian Alexander is one scandalous tabloid photo away from catapulting his acting career onto the A-list. All his bad boy persona needs is an agreeable member of the paparazzi to give him a friendly boost. But vacationing out in the middle of nowhere, the only photographer he knows is way too scrupulous for her own good. Or is she?

“Hailey Summer is desperate for cash—so desperate that she’s willing to do just about anything with her photography skills to save her family’s cottage and keep her secrets hidden from her sisters. So when sexy and arrogant movie star Finian makes her an offer, Hailey can’t resist. But does his proposition take things too far? And when their plans begin to unravel, will Finian and Hailey find the limelight too blinding?”

More contemporary romance than anything I’ve read lately, I’m excited to see what it’s all about, and if it lives up to the rating. How do movies stars meet people who aren’t celebrities and date them? I want that to be my life. Maybe I can live vicariously through this, or maybe not.

Deadly Illusions by Robert Brown is $1.30!

I just spent way too much money on junk food. But what else is new?

Like many other days, I have a book for you that’s under $2! Who doesn’t love cheap books? This one, however, is a little different.

“Called to remote corner of Epping Forest by his friend and Metropolitan Police veteran Tyler Easton, Cael is shocked at what he finds. But worse follows, when it becomes apparent that the murder is just the beginning of something much bigger and that a pitiless serial killer is at large.

“As the two men begin to unravel the horrific crimes they close in on the predator and his ruthless agenda. But all is not as it seems, and the case soon becomes more personal for Tyler, when his wife becomes the next target of the madman.

“Lured to a theater on the pretext of attending a show, Samantha Easton comes face to face with the killer and it’s up to Cael and Tyler to stop him. But will they solve the clues fast enough to save her from a horrific end?”

The Eslites (The Eslite Chronicles 0.5) by C.M. Doporto Review

What do you think of all these novella’s and prequel’s I’ve been reading lately? I think its been a nice change of pace from full length novels. Anyways, today I’m reviewing The Eslites, a prequel novella to The Eslites Chronicles series, and let me tell you, it was the perfect start. Though I’ve never heard of this series, I was really intrigued by the description of the book, and I’m really glad I got the chance to check it out.

Of course by now you probably know that I love anything with aliens in it. And let me tell you, this book is no exception. The story follows a young teenage girl named Miranda, in the first person viewpoint. Her boyfriend Bryce won’t let her leave, but it’s not like she has a choice. Resistance means death, and even her parents basically just tell her to be strong and hopefully she won’t be chosen.

In this version of Earth, a dying alien race has chosen humans to incubate their offspring, or at least donate their eggs and sperm to help create more of them. After all, they have no females left in their race, and they’re running out of choices. Every male and female human between the ages of 14 and 25 must go for testing, and if they’re chosen, are forced to stay in a medical center and donate themselves to the greater good of these aliens. Apparently, most girls don’t make it home.

Though I wasn’t really sure what I was getting into with this book, it was a quick read, I finished it in under an hour, and surprisingly I was sucked in immediately. I can’t wait to see what happens in the first full length novel of the series, and I know that I need to get it into my life. If you’re into books that are about aliens and humans interacting, with a little bit of dystopia mixed in, you’re going to love this. I thought it did remind me a bit of The Hunger Games, but not the games themselves, just the part when they’re chosen and forcefully removed from their families. I think this is the perfect read for someone who wants something quick and addicting.

Only The Stars Know (The Immortal World #1) by Shannon A. Hiner is Free

I hate vacuuming and I think my cat agrees. But it has to be done.

This morning, like most mornings, I have another free book for you all! Published in 2012, this book holds a rating of 4.2 stars across 16 reviews on Goodreads, which surprises me since it’s been out for so long.

21572724It’s description claims that: “Rowan is a town that is seldom left, or found.

“Within the cottage on the edge of town, Kali finds the quiet solitude that she has sentenced herself to. Keeping herself away from people, she hopes she can escape a past that leaves her terrified of her own subconscious.

“Zane left the town twelve years ago and was never heard from again. Now he has returned to seek the advice of an old friend, only to find Kali in residence instead. While he will not reveal himself to his family and friends, something about Kali keeps drawing him back to the cottage.

“He must leave soon though, tonight…because the ones who took him years before, are coming.

“They will never stop looking for him.”

Doesn’t that sound exciting? I’ve already grabbed a copy for myself! I look forward to reading and reviewing it for all of you.

Misconception by Christy Hayes is 99 Cents

Been trying to clean my house and schedule my posts for the week and I’m just procrastinating everything before I start my new job tomorrow fml.

Anyways, I picked this book today because it’s only 99 cents, and also because it seems really different in terms of topics based on everything else I read. Published in 2011, this book holds a rating of 3.8 stars across 24 reviews on Goodreads, which is surprising because of how old it is.

It’s description claims that: “When suburban Atlanta stay-at-home mom, Pace Kelly, finds out she’s pregnant three years after her husband Jason’s vasectomy, her once happy marriage is pushed to the breaking point.

“Forced to put his dream of opening his own architecture firm on hold, Jason Kelly tries to get excited about another baby. But a trip to the urologist leaves him staggered. Despite Pace’s insistence that she hasn’t cheated, Jason is left to wonder if his blueblood wife has finally grown tired of his humble background and their middle class lifestyle. Unable to chalk it up to an error, Jason does the unthinkable.

“But the truth he discovers is a heavier burden to carry than the innuendo that was eating him alive. Now the tables are turned and he’s left holding a smoking gun. An innocent wife. A desperate husband. A no-win situation. When the smoke clears, will their marriage survive?”

Doesn’t that sound interesting? I wonder could possibly happen. I like the idea that there’s family drama within a rich family, and that it could tear them apart.

Dare to Resist (Parallel World Book One) by Christine Kersey is Free

I’ve been procrastinating so badly lately and I feel like I have so much to do ugh.

Here’s something a little more on brand for me, however. Let me say that I love the cover, and that paired with the description is what drew me to this book in the first place.

Published in 2018, this book holds a rating of 3.9 stars across 5 reviews on Goodreads. It reminds me a little of the plot for The Uglies, which makes me think I would really like it, because I loved that series.

Contamination Box Set: The Complete Post-Apocalyptic Series (Books 0-7) by T.W. Piperbrook is only 99 Cents!

How do you feel about all these cheap box sets lately? I love finding a good bargain, and what could be better than 7 books for 99 cents?

Though this book set doesn’t have much of a description, I still want to check it out, and I thought you should know about it. Published in July of 2019, this set has a rating of 5 stars across 1 review on Goodreads. Though that isn’t much of an indicator to the series, I’m still intrigued by these 7 books.

47177597._SX318_It’s description claims that: “The Best-Selling Post-Apocalyptic Series, Contamination – The complete series Books 0-7, available for the first time in one special box set! Over 1,200 pages of reading!

Of Murders and Mages (Casino Witch Mysteries #1) by Nikki Haverstock is Free

This is really off topic but I love my google home so much, like it’s so handy if I had a bigger house I would want one in every room.

That being said, here’s a book that has nothing to do with that statement. I think that this book has a really interesting looking cover, and the description is something that could appeal to a lot of people. After all, who doesn’t love a mystery?

36070563._SY475_Published in 2017, this book has a rating of 4.2 stars across 58 reviews on Goodreads, which is a solid amount of reviews. It’s description claims that: “(There are) Three ways that Ella’s life is totally messed up:
__ her new coworker is as cranky as he is attractive
__ a mischievous cat has decided she needs a familiar
__ she just found out she’s a witch who can read the emotional hologram of a magical death (and isn’t that a mouthful)

“And oh yeah, there’s five dead bodies, and no one knows how they are connected. Now she’s drawn into a madcap investigation at the casino where she’s managed to snag a job. She must navigate learning her new mage abilities, a topless burlesque show, a jealous girlfriend, gamblers of all varieties, and magical chocolate cake, all while not setting herself or others on fire before the murderer makes her the next victim.”

Doesn’t that sound exciting?

Get The Tide Series Box Set (Books 1-4): A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller by Anthony J Melchiorri for only 99 Cents

I can’t stop eating chips lately, is that just me or do other people have this problem?

Anyways, maybe eating tons of chips while reading this box set could be a good thing. I’m sure you know by now, but I love post-apocalyptic things. It’s definitely one of my favourites, and who doesn’t love so many books in a series for so cheap?

Published in 2018, this book holds a rating of 4.2 stars across 30 reviews on Goodreads. That gives me pretty high hopes for it. I like the aesthetic of the books, and I think that they might be something I could be really into.

It’s description claims that: “A devastating bioweapon will change the face and fate of humanity as we know it.

“Dom and his team may be the only ones equipped to find out why. They embark on a globe-trotting race to unravel the apocalyptic mystery behind the bioweapon destroying civilization. But will their efforts be enough to turn the tide—or is humanity’s fate already sealed?”

Doesn’t that sound exciting? Not very often do I come across bioweapons in books, but I think it could be really different and interesting. I can’t wait to check this box set out, and I’m happy to share it with you all.
