I was really excited to see that the next installment of “The Adventures of Marisol Holmes” was finally out, after reading the first book and loving it, I felt like any time at all was too long to wait for the second book. That being said, I loved the first one so much that for at least a week after reading it I couldn’t stop thinking about it, especially the twist at the end. You can see my review of it here. I also really like that the covers go together so well, I’m sure they would look amazing on my bookshelf.

After the intense ending that the last book had, the beginning takes place about thirty seconds after Balthazar hands Marisol the sigil ring. Thirteen people have been murdered by someone she considered a friend. Though she’s recently become in tune with her jaguar side, it’s still very hard to harness it’s power, and emotions. Because of the events in the previous book, when Balthazar handed her the ring, it effectively made her not only a sigil bearer, but the only one left. And she will hunt down the person responsible.

The person responsible, however, isn’t so easy to find. After murdering those thirteen people in cold blood, they made off with two other sigil rings, the wolf, and the chameleon. Marisol knows that they usually match the shifter that they’re given to, which gives her a new problem, because she’s a jaguar shifter she’s not supposed to hold any sigil ring, especially not a serpent, but she’s going to have to deal with it.

This book, like the last one, is told in the first person viewpoint, from Marisol’s point of view. The great, great, great granddaughter of the amazing Sherlock Holmes, she has mystery engraved in her very being. That being said, she’s desperate to find out what’s really going on, and to hunt down the people responsible for all the horrible things that have been going on lately. This book was everything I wanted it to be and more, and I devoured it in one sitting, that’s how good it is.

My favourite character, of course has to be Marisol because she’s just so different from any of the other characters, she makes mistakes, but she’s able to work with it and really just do her best. I also have to add that Roan is my other favourite character. Although I wouldn’t say I know a lot about him, there’s just something about him that’s so calming, it’s nice to have him around.

This book was exciting, mysterious, and I never expected the ending. I didn’t expect this book to surround so much of her father, either, but I was pleasantly surprised. I loved getting to know more about her background, family, and really just the world in general. There are plenty of twists in the plot that kept my attention fully, and I couldn’t ask for a better second book in the series. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

If you’re someone who loves the supernatural, and just a really good first person mystery, than this is the book for you, no matter your age or preference to books. You need to read this series, and you need to read it in order. I want to recommend this series to everyone I know, even if they’re not into shifters. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book, I fee l like it’s going to eat me alive waiting for it. So yeah, definitely check this book out if you get the chance.

It’s available here, and here’s a link to the author’s Twitter, if you’d like to keep up with her.

Thanks for reading!
